What Does It Mean To Be Coast Guard Certified?

This means that the LAHELA is thoroughly inspected annually to ensure that all its safety gear is current, all wiring is in place, all switches are operable, and there are no fire hazards. In short, the Coast Guard double checks that everything is in perfect working order to ensure your safety. They also require the crew members to execute “man overboard” and fire drills. And finally, every other year the boat is hauled out of the water for complete inspection inside and out.
